Approved by the Congress of Deputies last December 27, the new tax incentives for audiovisual filming have placed Spain among the most attractive destinations in Europe.

From January 19 to 29, the U.S. city of Park City will host the 40th edition of the Sundance Film Festival, the mecca of independent film, which this year includes three productions with the participation of Spanish companies in the World Cinema Dramatic category.

The 70th edition of the San Sebastian Festival, held from September 16 to 24, confirmed that the Spanish production sector is still in full swing, driven both by the latest art-house cinema and the vibrant production of drama series.

The boost to production driven by pay-TV operators and streaming platforms keeps the boom in the production of fiction series in Spain at an all-time high, including projects with increasingly global ambitions.

Summer of international recognition: Jonás Trueba’s film “You Have to Come and See It” wins the Special Jury Prize in Karlovy Vary, after Wanda Films’ documentary “The Hidden Eye” triumphed at Sunny Side of the Doc and Mago Audio Visual Production’s animated series “La Orquestita” won at the Pulcinella Awards organized by RAI in Italy.

A delegation of leading U.S. studios and platforms participated in a reverse training visit to Spain that took them to Madrid, Andalusia, and the Canary Islands from May 8 to 14.
